"New" DTM Roll Cage Highlights


The "new" generation of DTM cars have some of the most advanced roll cage designs ever put into practice. The layout is entirely computer generated. The result is a car that is extremely safe as well as very, very stiff in both torsion and bending.

Under this iteration of the DTM rules there is not much remaining of the original car. Only the roof, firewall and floor pan are left over. Everything forward of the firewall is re-fabricated. Both front and rear suspension are "free" - this means double A-arms with push rods and rockers to activate the springs and dampers. All bodywork is carbon. They are very fun cars to watch on TV, although they do sound a bit like 2-stroke motorcycles due to the flat-plane crank V8's ;^)
