The "new" generation of DTM cars have some of the most
advanced roll cage designs ever put into practice.
The layout is entirely computer generated. The result
is a car that is extremely safe as well as very, very stiff
in both torsion and bending.

Under this iteration of the DTM rules there is not much remaining
of the original car. Only the roof, firewall and floor pan are left
over. Everything forward of the firewall is re-fabricated. Both front
and rear suspension are "free" - this means double A-arms with push rods
and rockers to activate the springs and dampers. All bodywork is carbon.
They are very fun cars to watch on TV, although they do sound a bit like
2-stroke motorcycles due to the flat-plane crank V8's ;^)
