This is an Audi A4 race car from the 1996 BTCC Championship. Other than the location
of the steering wheel relative to the driver (!) the interesting thing to notice
is the "main hoop". There is no main hoop in the traditional sense. The hoop splits
into two at the driver's shoulder.
This is a very popular technique among BTCC Super Touring designers as it provides increased
triangulation. This layout would be illegal in SCCA IT classes as those rules require
that the main hoop be a continuous tube with a maximum of 4 bends.
Observe the gussets in the upper part of the windshield hoop. Also note the "roof diagonal".
