Here we see the rear shock towers on a Dodge Stratus Super Touring car. It was being built for the ill-fated
North American Touring Car Championship (NATCC). Note that the car is not even present. The cage
is built onto the floor pan and then the rest of the unibody is welded around it. Just like
NASCAR, except that the unibody does have some small contribution to chassis stiffness. This practice
of building the unibody around the cage was eventually outlawed in European Super Touring.
Check out the tube connecting the shock towers and also note how it is triangulated. One can see
the firewall in the distance. The center exhaust tunnel is moved over to the passenger side
in order to allow the driver to sit closer to the center of the car.
