Here we see the cage on a mid-90's Mustang Trans Am race car.
Because the cage is painted white it is easy to see the layout through the
front glass. Note the "diamond" shape which transforms the whole windshield
into a shear plane. The idea of having upper diagonals in the windshield frame
is not unusual, and is often seen in Super Touring cars. But this Trans Am
car takes the method right to the limit. It would seem that this type of cage
would hinder the driver's outward vision. But the design was used for several
years so it cannot have been that bad.
