Michael Schumacher's F1 Steering Wheel Spacer

Michael Schumacher's F1 Steering Wheel Spacer

This interesting photo shows the method used to adjust the loction of the steering wheel on Michael Schumacher's F1 Ferrari. There are series of thin plates bolted between the steering wheel and the hub. The plates look to be about 3-4 mm thick and I count at least 5 of them. Presumably, adding or subtracting these plates gets the steering wheel "just" where Michael likes it. Note the seemingly very small bolts that are used to hold on the steering wheel.

Moral of the story = If you think ergomomic adjustments are a waste of time, maybe you should reconsider 8^)
